Public Art

PICTURE ABOVE: "I See What You Mean,” by Lawrence Argent at the Colorado Convention Center, Denver

This bear is forty feet tall who peeks into the enormous facility which questions a the relationship between art and technology and also sparks the curiosity of what is inside. “My public artworks are part of a larger whole,” stated Lawrence Argent. “I am an artist that utilizes assorted mediums and venues to engage the viewer in questioning the assumed and provide a vehicle by which stimulus opens a plethora of responses that defy verbal articulation.” Lawrence Argent said that bear was not suppose to be blue that was actually by accident. The bear was suppose to be the colors that resemble Colorado with sandstone colors. The inspiration and reason for making this sculpture was because Lawrence Argent saw a picture of a black bear looking in someone's window in a newspaper article. It gives you the perspective from the outside looking in. In other words, the bear represents a different way at looking at things.
